Monsoons are the best part only if you know how to enjoy and embrace those rains. In 2018 during the monsoons, I decided to pack my bags and begin my solo trip. But it is not as easy as it sounds, there were days that I maximised my google search starting from questions like – How to travel, where to stay, How to travel as a female solo traveller, etc. and did all possible research.
So here I am sharing things from my personal experiences.
How to travel as solo female traveller from Mumbai (Thane) to Goa?
Catch early morning Madgaon Express from Thane to Thivim. Train arrives around 6.30 at Thane Station. And it takes about 6-7 hours or even more to reach Thivim.
How to Travel from Thivim railway station to Candolim?
There are usually private as well as authorised government taxis right outside Thivim Railway station. The taxi has to be booked from Taxi Stand and it costs about 650 INR. Even if its slightly expensive it is very safe especially if you are travelling solo.
Where to Stay in Goa?
If you are a solo female traveller you will have to search about stay part a well in advance. I was staying at Zostel, Candolim. Now Candolim is not really a safe place if you are travelling solo. You will get all kinds of creepy stares and looks around. But since I was staying at Zostel, I was rest assured about my safety. I met a bunch of travellers, alike minded people at Zostel. It ensures you to stay with an experience, is what I can say. I stayed in a dorm of 6 beds, and payed for my bed. It costed me INR 350 for per night. *Since I was travelling during off season I got cheaper rates*

Now Internet would have so many answers to this. Every other lane in Goa, has a bike/car rental shop. You have to just show your license and rent the bike. Bike rental costs around INR 200 and car goes till 500-700 INR per day. You have to pay for your fuel cost for whatever you chose to rent.I personally decided to go for Car, as I was solo and also since it was monsoons. I wanted to travel freely and not worrying much for my equipments.

Further to this you can visit literally any place that you wish to with the help of Google maps.
I stopped by at Baga beach, Candolim beach, Aguada Fort, Panjim City, Anjuna beach to name a few. Goa has always been special for the freedom and lifestyle the city offers. So if you are any kind of traveller, and are planning to visit Goa, you definitely should! This city is much more beyond the beaches and beer! 🙂
